On-going refresh of fellowship priority areas

Since the launch of the Fellowship Framework in July 2011, EPSRC's Challenge and Capability themes have continued to identify and prioritise areas in which they wish to support fellowships.

From April 2013, a biannual process has been introduced with guidance in place to publicise the on-going refresh of thematic priority areas, aligned to the peer review process. Hence in future, there will be clearly defined times during the year when EPSRC update their priority areas.

Where new priority areas are being introduced or notice for removing an area is being given; details will be made available for interested parties on this webpage biannually in spring and autumn each year.

Removal of priority areas – when a theme intends to remove a priority area, EPSRC will give adequate notice of this intention. Aligned to the above process, six months' advance notice will be provided and publicised in either spring or autumn each year. Please note any related applications in process at the time that advance notice is given will continue to be assessed in good faith.

Please also note, EPSRC will not be giving notice for adding new fellowship priority areas – these will go live as soon as they are announced on this webpage.

While this biannual process enables fellowship priority areas to be updated on an on-going regular basis, EPSRC reserves the right to introduce new priority areas outside of these defined timescales and at short notice as and when it is deemed necessary.
