Challenging Engineering 2010 call

Following a review of the scheme Challenging Engineering has a renewed focus on helping the most promising early career researchers and so for the first year proposals will be invited across the remit of the Materials, Mechanical and Medical Engineering, Information and Communications Technologies and Process, Environment and Sustainability.

The Challenging Engineering programme is designed to identify and support individuals with the potential to become future leaders of engineering research, with the ambition of building a team around them to deliver their research vision.

The awards will support challenging research programmes, with a focus on developing a research group, over the course of a five year period.

This call is suitable for academics with a permanent position at an eligible UK organisation who have been awarded their PhD within the last ten years.

We hope to fund around ten awards, of up to £1 million each across the remit of the three participating programmes.

The launch of the scheme will be supported by a number of information days for those interested in the scheme. Details of these days will be released shortly.
