We provide substantial funding to a number of large research projects and centres in the UK:
To help manufacturing industries respond to future opportunities and drivers and contribute to a prosperous UK, and building on the successes of the Innovative Manufacturing Research Centres and the EPSRC Centres in Innovative Manufacturing, we have evolved our critical mass investments in the manufacturing space to a network of Future Manufacturing Research Hubs. Eight Hubs have been funded to date.
Future Photonics Hub, Future Liquid Metal Engineering Hub, Future Manufacturing Hub in Targeted Healthcare, Future Manufacturing Hub in Manufacture using Advanced Powder Processes, Future Composites Manufacturing Hub …
The Academic Centres of Excellence in Cyber Security Research (ACE-CSRs) scheme is jointly managed by EPSRC, GCHQ and BIS (now the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy [BEIS]).
The EPSRC Centres for Innovative Manufacturing are part of a new approach to maximise the impact of innovative research for the UK, supporting existing industries, and more importantly, opening up new industries and markets in growth areas.
IMRCs were the funding model for innovative manufacturing centres from 2001 until 2009. IMRCs received an initial block grant for five years, with potential for up to a further five year renewal. A total of 18 centres were funded under this scheme.
