The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) ICT Theme has announced funding to establish a new community resource to promote Responsible Research and Innovation across the UK's ICT research community.

The Observatory for Responsible Research and Innovation in ICT (ORBIT) will provide information and services to the ICT research and development communities to support them in undertaking their work responsibly.

EPSRC is committed to the development and promotion of RRI, and to that end developed the Anticipate, Reflect, Engage and Act (AREA) framework in 2013.

Responsible innovation is a process that seeks to promote creativity and opportunities for science and innovation that are socially desirable and undertaken in the public interest.

ORBIT will be a community resource allowing the exchange of information, networking and reflection on ICT research. Its services include training courses as well as a dedicated RRI online toolkit and journal.
