High End Computing (HEC) Consortia Call 2017
Intent to submit deadline: Tuesday 25 July 2017
EPSRC-funded High End Computing (HEC) Consortia provide their members and users with access to computing resources on the national High Performance Computing (HPC) service, enabling research in a certain area of science or engineering. As well as providing effective and flexible access to compute resource, the Consortia have also driven the establishment of long-lived communities, expanding the existing user base and facilitating collaboration, software and code development, as well as the sharing of technical knowledge across the UK research base.
Through this new call EPSRC is looking to support new and existing HEC Consortia that underpin research and research communities within the EPSRC remit. Subject to quality, approximately £2M of funding is available through this call, as well as block compute allocations on the UK national HPC service ARCHER and its successor ARCHER2. Up to 4.7 FTE per annum of computational science and engineering support from staff at STFC's Scientific Computing Department is also available through this call.
In order to collate information on the resources being requested and allow maximum time for the selection of appropriate reviewers and panel members, all applicants must register their intent to submit using the electronic 'Intent to submit' form on this call page. The form must be submitted to EPSRC by 16:00 on Tuesday, 25 July 2017. Full applications will not be accepted where EPSRC has not received an intent to submit form.
The deadline for full submissions is 16:00 on Tuesday 12 September 2017. Full proposals will be subject to an external peer review process before a final prioritisation by interview panel in January / February 2018.
