Certain schemes have specific eligibility criteria, and prospective applicants should confirm their eligibility for a scheme before submitting their proposal.
First Grant Scheme
The first grant scheme is to help new academics apply for research funding at the start of their careers. The specific eligibility criteria to be considered before applying are detailed within the First Grant Scheme.
New Investigator Award
The New Investigator Award scheme is to support individuals who have recently acquired their first academic lectureship position, have not previously led an academic research group or been the recipient of a significant grant (usually defined as those which included PDRA time, capital equipment or were in excess of £100,000 (FEC)).
The specific eligibility criteria to be considered before applying are detailed within the New Investigator Award scheme.
Applicants for Fellowships must hold a PhD or have equivalent research experience; however, there are no rules specifying years of post-doctoral experience, or whether you hold a permanent academic position.
General eligibility rules for students supported through EPSRC funding are on the Studentship Eligibility page
EPSRC fund Doctoral Training at universities through Doctoral Training Grants, so do not provide funds directly to students. Therefore final eligibility decisions are made by universities and queries should be addressed directly to them.
