Strategic Plan goals

Our Strategic Plan sets out how we will keep the UK at the heart of global research and innovation - providing the knowledge and skills vital to a healthy, sustainable and prosperous society.

Our Delivery Plan shows how we will be more active in partnering with the research community to generate the fundamental knowledge, and develop the skilled people, essential to business, other research organisations and government.

Our plans are ambitious and will be delivered through our three strategic goals which are inextricably linked. Further information on each of these goals can be found on the relevant pages of this site and are also referred to within the challenge-led and national capability theme pages.

The activity and behaviours encouraged through these goals will ultimately influence the way we look at our whole portfolio. We will consider relationships and overlaps between research areas across the whole portfolio, avoiding artificial boundaries created by programmes and enabling us to seek out opportunities across the full Engineering and Physical Sciences (EPS) remit.

Further information on how we will balance and shape our portfolio can be found under Shaping Capability with more detail being made available in the summer. These are complex changes that will evolve over time. For now proposals should be submitted in the usual way; and we will inform applicants as and when things change.
