The director of the EPSRC supported project to build the World's fastest car has been outlining the progress of the construction of the vehicle.

Richard Noble was interviewed on the BBC Breakfast News couch this week. He also made an appearance on the radio for BBC Wiltshire's Breakfast Programme.

The BLOODHOUND SSC Project is aiming to set a new world land speed record of a thousand miles per hour.

The crucial aerodynamics research behind the development of the car is being supported by EPSRC. They are funding a team of researchers at Swansea University to undertaken the vital computational modelling of the aerodynamics research for the vehicle, which will be powered by a jet engine and a rocket. It will be able to go from nought to a thousand miles per hour in forty-five seconds.

EPSRC is also supporting the public engagement side of the project. One and a half million schoolchildren are now involved in the BLOODHOUND Education Programme which aims to inspire more young people to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
