The Funding Guide sets out the arrangements and procedures for research grants and research fellowships, together with a summary of other types of grants. It includes terms and conditions agreed across all research councils for full economic cost and pre-full economic cost research grants and fellowships.

Main changes in the January 2010 version are:

1. Updating the Funding Opportunities section to reflect new grant schemes available to Research Organisations and Individuals and removal of schemes that are no loner valid.
2. Clarification of the eligibility requirements for investigators and co-investigators.
3. Inclusion of the cross-council agreed policy to limit the provision of standard desktop and laptop computers.
4. Clarification of when travel and subsistence costs can be charged to grants.
5. Details of the electronic starting process have been included.
6. Clarification of details of fund headings on grants that may be transferred to Germany.
7. Clarification of extensions to fellowships

This guide covers changes to eligibility of organisations effective from 26 October 2006 and the revised set of eligibility criteria agreed by the research councils.
