This guide is intended to help all those considering participating in public engagement activities, especially those considering an application for the Partnerships for Public Engagement (PPE) award scheme. We recommend that all those considering a PPE application take a look at it, as it contains a wealth of information about how to plan an effective public awareness project. Also discussed are: reasons to get involve in public awareness activity; possible audiences and techniques for projects; a collection of case studies of previous PPE awards; and how to avoid such notorious pitfalls as problems with publicity and evaluation.
Please note that this guide does not replace the EPSRC funding guide, which contains information on regulations and the format of a proposal.
